The Fontanini Nativity story of Miriam: Miriam was a lovely young girl who love to tend the animals. When she was of the age to learn the skills of weaving, and baking, and housekeeping, she told her family that she wished instead to become a shepherd. While she obeyed her mother's wishes in the home, her heart was in the fields with her creatures. One day she came upon a small lamb who way laying alone, with an injured leg. Although she feared her father's wrath, her heart told her to bandage the animal and take it home to care for. Surely her father would understand.
