Description
Gorgeous springstone is a very hard variety of serpentine stone - a favorite among carvers in Zimbabwe.
This nativity set is handcarved by Zimbabwe artist Lue Jimu from pure springstone. The reddish brown coloration is oxidized rock that is quarried along with the springstone. This blanketing of oxidized rock often serves as inspiration to the carvers of Zimbabwe.
Our nativity set is fair trade imported and Joseph measures about 5 1/4 inches tall and Mary about 4 inches tall. Because each set is handcarved, some slight variations should be expected - they make each piece one of a kind!
