Description
The blessed family stands together under a colorful star in unique nativity from Kenya. May and Joseph both lovingly hold the infant Jesus. The nativity is approximately 6 inches tall.
Hand-carved and hand-painted from lustrous kisii, a soapstone native to Kenya, is first carved into the shape of the nativity figures. The nativity figures are then dyed with ink or paint and finished with a coating of beeswax. The final step is the detailed etching or carving on the surface of the pieces.
As this nativity is made by hand, some slight variation should be expected. Fair trade imported. Fair trade pays artisans a living wage for their work and puts people first, not profits.

Kenya nativity statue
Love the simple lines and colors that are sealed with beeswax. In some of the painted places where the body joins the base the colors are "outside the line" but I can live with it due to my overall satisfaction
