This delightful hand-knitted nativity scene from Puno, Peru was created by master knitter Lino Huamani and hand-knitted in a fair trade workshop using organic cotton.
The Peruvian nativity set includes five pieces: Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus in his crib, a llama and a sheep. Joseph measures approximately 5 inches tall.
We especially love the expressive little faces and the intricate knitted details that give each figure its own personality. This is a lovely example of how Peruvian artisans bring their own artistic traditions to the nativity story.
