Description
Hand crocheted in the Republic of Georgia, this nativity scene reflects Georgian culture and the skill of the artisans who create it. The five-piece nativity set includes Mary, Joseph, the Baby Jesus, a donkey and a sheep.
Mary wears her hair in long braids, which is traditional for young women in Georgian culture. Joseph carries a small dagger in his waistband. The tradition of carrying a dagger, known as Svanuri Kama, is deeply rooted in the culture of Georgia and represents courage, strength and readiness to protect one's family, community and homeland.
Georgian nativity scene measures approximately 4.5 inches tall. Each figure is individually crocheted with soft yarn and the infant Jesus is able to be removed from the manger.
